As all the cutting tools, the tattoo of scissors represents the active cosmic principle penetrating, modifying (male), the passive principle (female). The chisel of the sculptor modifies the stone. The chisel is the flash of lightning, an agent of the celestial will penetrating into the material(subject) quite as  the needle of the tattooer penetrating into the skin. It is the intellectual beam penetrating into the individuality. It is the cutting strength, which cuts, separates, distinguishes and which judges.

As agent, it is acted itself. Active person towards the stone, it is passive towards the hand which represents the active will itself.

The body modification and of the raw material by the chisel is considered by Tchouang-tseu as the symbol of the illegitimate infringements on the spontaneity, the excessive interventions of the man in the natural laws of the life.

The tattooed scissors were an attribute of Atropos, one of parques in charge of cutting the thread of days: tattoo symbol of the possibility of the sudden end and that  life depends on gods of the tattoo.
